5 Vehicles That Will Give Insurers Nightmares

And with good reason; damage to supercars, hyper-cars and luxury sedans can cost hundreds of thousands of Rands to repair. That is, to say, if they can be repaired at all. In order to produce these types of vehicles, scarce materials and lots of technology is required which pushes up the price.

Additionally, very often only a limited number of vehicles are built for a specific model. Here is a list of 5 of the most expensive vehicles of 2013 that most insurance companies will try to avoid:

Lamborghini Veneno

This model was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and comes with a whopping price tag of R38.6 million. Only three models of this street legal beast were made and all of them are spoken for. It features a carbon-fibre monocoque and has a 6.5-liter V12 pushing out 750 horsepower.

W Motors Lykan Hypersport

W Motors are new to the hyper car industry, but their upcoming model – the Lykan Supersport – clocks in at a ridiculous R30.6 million. It will feature diamond-coated LED lights, a gold plated bonnet and gold-stitched leather seats. And quite surprisingly, the company already has more than 100 orders for this particular model.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

This behemoth will take you all the way up to 408.84 km/h. Its 7.9-liter W16 engine produces 1200 horsepower and it will reach 100km/h in only 2.6 seconds. To lay your hands on this awesome machine you will have to fork out a mere R25.7 million. To add even more to the exclusivity factor, only 8 will be manufactured.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The Super Sport is officially the fastest production car in the world with a more-than-impressive top speed of 431 km/h. If you would like to own your own Super Sport, you will have to part with R23.7 million, a tidy sum in most people’s book. It is truly one of the most desirable cars in the world.

Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

Pagani is widely considered to be one of the world’s preeminent hyper-car manufacturers, and the Cinque Roadster is a treat for the eyes to behold. It is powered by a Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 engine with an output of 678 horsepower. This propels the Pagani up to a maximum speed of 350 km/h. At R18.3 million, it won’t be parked in everyone’s garage.

Aston Martin One-77

It is without a doubt a beautiful creation and only 77 will ever be built. A 7.3-liter V12 powers it, while the interior can be customized to the finest detail, which ensures that each one of the 77 is unique in its own right. The skeleton is a full carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and the body is handcrafted from aluminium. Chances of you ever getting to experience the performance of this vehicle are slim to none.

If you do decide to purchase one of these vehicles, make sure you research a whole selection of car insurance companies to ensure you find one that will cover your vehicle.
